Please note the following critical details: - Arrive 15-20 Minutes Early – Please have your players arrive, ready to play ball, at least 15 minutes before their scheduled tryout for check-in.
Linedrive Waiver Release / Facility Registration – Please go online and register your player(s) prior to the tryout. You should click on the “Registration” tab on the Linedrive website NOTE – Players will not be able to use the facility unless / until the Waiver Registration is complete. Please do this in advance.
Attire & Gear – Players should come ready to play baseball with their hat and glove. DO NOT WEAR CLEATS. The tryouts will be indoors on turf, so athletic sneakers are best. The league will provide batting helmets and bats for the hitting portion of the tryout. - Draft – The Majors Draft will be conducted Saturday evening following the tryout. Players will be notified of the draft results on Sunday (Jan 29th). Expect practices to commence immediately following the draft. - Supplemental Tryout – Please do your absolute best to make tryouts during your scheduled time.
For those few players that are unable to make the Saturday tryout, we will be holding a short Supplemental Tryout on Friday evening (January 27th) at Linedrive from 7:00pm – 8:00pm. All details mentioned above still apply. Please let us know in advance if you plan to attend the Supplemental Tryout.
If you have any questions, please contact the Major’s Rep:
Following tryouts on January 28th, a draft is conducted
Players who played TCLL Majors last year will be automatically placed back on their teams, and therefore should not attend tryouts
New players must attend tryouts and are then drafted onto a team until all rosters are full
Each team will have exactly 12 players, so the math usually requires that some new players be placed into the Minors draft
All 12 year olds at tryouts will be drafted onto a Majors team
11s (and 5th grade 10s) who have played two years of Minors are usually drafted onto a Majors team
Most 11s and some 10s who played one year of Minors are drafted onto a Majors team if space allows and if the player demonstrates at tryouts that s/he is prepared for this level
11s and 10s with no Minors (live pitching) experience are expected to play Minors
While we require all new 12s and 11s to attend try-outs, we also invite any 10s who would like to attend
For some advanced 10s, it can be a positive experience to participate in tryouts, if only to get a glimpse into what is to come in future years
10s who don’t feel prepared to play Majors need not attend tryout
Most players should play 2 years at the Majors level, typically at ages 11 & 12
